Election Principles

We encourage everyone of legal voting age (at least 18 years of age) to vote in the City of Yorkton Municipal Election. Voting is a right and privilege that all Canadians have. Eligible voters can and should exercise their right to vote in the Municipal Election. Your vote helps to shape the future of our community.

The City of Yorkton ensures that:

  • all polling stations are accessible to the voters;
  • The integrity of the process should be maintained throughout the election.                       
  • The election should be fair and non-biased.
  • There is to be certainty that the results of the election reflect the votes cast.                                          
  • Voters and candidates should be treated fairly and consistently.    
  • The secrecy and confidentiality of the individual votes is paramount.
